'Balm Balm Frankincense Deep Cleansing Balm' Review

Friday, November 29

Type of Cleanser: Oil based balm
Organic Content: 100%
Price: £7.99
Size: 30ml

My Skin Type: Breakout Prone/Combination

At first I was unsure about this Balm Balm cleanser. Arriving in a tiny brown glass pot, I wondered just how long this cleansing balm was going to last me. It was so small! However, any doubts I had proved unfounded once I started using it.

A luxuriously thick consistency, the balm melts into your skin like a dream. I massage it in, concentrating on my cheeks and nose, as this is where I tend to get breakouts and blackheads. Rinsing a muslin cloth in hot water, I start to rub off the balm in circular motions, making sure to keep the cloth warm so it draws out as much dirt as it can.

Immediately my skin feels soft, moisturised and plump, almost velvety in texture. Since using it, I've noticed a considerable reduction in my blackheads (although they haven't completely gone), pore size and miraculously for me, no breakouts.

This is far more than the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish did for me, and it also lasts a lot longer. The Balm Balm 30ml pot size is deceiving. Because the balm is so thick and a little goes a long way, it lasts a couple of months if I use it in both the morning and evening. With the frankincense and combination of essential oils, it smells beautiful. Also, being 100% organic, it means absolute natural goodness for your skin. This cleanser is going to take some beating x

  4. I know what you mean about cleansing balms looking small in pots but lasting ages! I'm using one that's the same size from Live Native and I'm still amazed by the pea sized amount I only have to use each time. Will have to check this one out after I've used that up :) x

  5. I am looking for a balm cleanser for several months now (I use the Cattier's cleansing oil now) ! That Liz Earle, Emma Hardie, Aurélia Skincare and Balance Me make me the eye for a long time, but the price made me back every time ...
Upon leaving I thought that it would suit me but sunflower oil made me a little scared because maybe comedogenic, but your review made me change my mind, then I will surely buy it for the price is a bargain! Thanks !

  6. Hi, Chesca! Kathryne & I picked you for the Liebster Award, a fun blog tag for relatively new bloggers. Details are in our blog post: http://getunsullied.com/2013/12/07/liebster-love/

Great review, btw! Balm Balm is on our list but is a little tricker for us to buy since it's not a U.S.-brand - seriously, we're thinking of moving overseas because of all the great natural beauty brands you guys have over there (not really, but a gal can dream)...!

    1. Thank you so much for this! Apologies for the late reply, life's been a little bit hectic at the minute. Love your blog, I will do the tag as soon as I get chance. Ah and what a shame about the Balm Balm brand, it's so good too! I think it's a perfect excuse to have a UK holiday and stock up on all the goodies :p x
