The Lotion
This is a thick, white lotion which applies clear to your skin, meaning there is no guide colour. This is a huge plus for me as I find that guide colours stain anything and everything, plus you can't really wear them during the day as they are too strong. With this lotion, I can pop it on in the morning after a shower, and leave it to develop throughout the day. The colour itself begins developing almost immediately, and gives a beautiful golden glow which really impressed me for such a natural product. There is absolutely zero streaking, and the colour is incredibly natural looking and even. It won't compare to Xen Tan, Fake Bake, St Tropez etc, but if you're after something to top up a tan or give that extra warmth to your skin, this would be perfect. For fair skin, there will be a noticeable difference in the colour of your skin. If you do still use mainstream tanning lotions, then this would also be ideal for keeping your tan even between applications.
When you apply the lotion, the scent is pleasant but quite strong, with strong sandlewood tones. However this soon fades and is unfortunately replaced by a strong fake tan biscuit scent. This lets the product down in my opinion, as I struggle to bring myself to use it unless I know I'm going to be outside or somewhere I can't smell it. I wore this all the time in California, and since coming home I now only wear it in the evenings. If they could get around the scent, then I think this would be an amazing product that I would probably wear everyday.
The Green People Self Tan Lotion retails at £18.50.
Have you tried this self tan lotion? I also really want to try the Chocolate Sun products, I've heard amazing things about them. Any other natural self tanners I should have on my radar?
Chesca x
I have never faked tan, it just seems like a lot of effort for me, it also doesn't help that I am concerned how my skin would handle these products. Green People are great for ingredients, shame about the scent but that does seems to be a common complaint with fake tan, natural or otherwise
ReplyDeleteI can understand that, fake tan probably isn't the best if your skin is sensitive/reactive. Yeah I don't think I've ever used a tan where scent wasn't an issue!
DeleteI haven't tried a self tanning lotion but it sounds quite nice, too bad it doesn't smell good all the time! :) xx
ReplyDeleteI know, such a shame :( but then thats the same problem across a lot of fake tan. If only I could get a tan naturally I wouldn't be in this predicament! :) x
DeleteSounds lovely and out of all the natural fake tans I've tried, they ALL have that same smell! I've tried the Naked one, Lavera & one from Karora too and they all smell the same in the end haha...soo annoying!
ReplyDeleteHaha I know, I just want a nice glow without smelling like a digestive, is that too much to ask?! x
DeleteI've used the Green People one before and it was lovely, but no way would I use that large a bottle. I have bought the Laid Bare which is a really good price to try. Haven't used it yet though.
ReplyDeleteOoo will have a look at that, haven't heard of that one :)
