Priti NYC offer a 100% biodegradable, non carcinogenic and non toxic nail polish remover that is kind on your skin and nails. Lemongrass scented, it is nothing like you expect.
Ingredients
Methyl Soyate, Dimethyl Apidate, Dimethyl Gluturate, Lemongrass Essential Oil
The key ingredient here is methyl soyate, a biosolvent which is currently outperforming many petroleum based alternatives. It is completely biodegradable, and some companies who have been experimenting using it as an industrial cleaner and stripper have found it more effective than their current petro-chemical cleaners. This might sound a bit scary to put it on your skin, but it is only paired with 3 other ingredients and is not a concoction of multiple, harsh man made chemicals like other nail polish removers. The lemongrass essential oil gives it a beautiful scent, although there is an unscented version available.
The Nail Polish Remover:
I was genuinely surprised at how effective this was at removing my nail polish. I would even go so far as to say that it was better than any other nail polish remover I've used in the past. I love to wear dark colours on my nails, and unless I use a base coat these always stain my nails for at least a day afterwards. I only needed one cotton wool pad to remove polish off both my hands, and even though I never used a base coat, my nails were as clean as if I hadn't even had nail polish on. Afterwards my nails felt amazing, really moisturised and healthy when normally they would feel weak and stripped. And all this is before the smell! When normally I'd be getting high off fumes from the remover, instead there was a heavenly lemongrass scent that felt spa-like and calming. I think it's safe to say I have well and truly fallen in love with this product.
This was one swipe of the pad, without rubbing |
No staining - even without a base coat |
The Price:
Unfortunately this is where the nail polish has a stumbling block. Its £10 for 59ml, which is incredibly expensive compared to mainstream removers. I think this is down to Methyl Soyate still being a relatively new discovery and therefore pricier to get hold of. As more companies begin to use this ingredient, then I'm sure the price will come down and hopefully products like this will become more affordable. I'm happy to pay the price however, as after one use of this I knew I couldn't go back to my Superdrug remover again.
I know there are other eco-friendly nail polish removers that I haven't tried, are there any that you would recommend? I'd like to give some others a trial as well and see if they match up to this!
X
PS: To give you an idea of how effective this is, I left the used cotton pad on my bedside table overnight, and this is what happened to the paint :(
Very impressive results. Not so keen on the price though x
ReplyDeleteExactly. Their biggest problem I think x
DeleteThis looks so effective it's a shame about the price point, and it doesn't seem readily available in the UK either I guess it's convenient to just pop in boots/superdrug sand buy polish remover it's not usually something I'd want to order online hmmm. It does look good though x

You can buy it easily from beingcontent.com, but no where on the high street. Unfortunately with the majority of green products, the only place to buy is online, and that includes nail polish remover, organic cotton pads etc! Can be such a pain, but to me it's better than the alternatives :) x
DeleteThe effect is stunning but the price is still really overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteI think it's great. The price is too much but for me it's worth it as I use on my little girl too. I got mine from being content but it was on a sale.
ReplyDeleteHi Chesca! This is a great post. I would love to try a natural nail polish remover, but dang, they're so pricey! However, the pretty packaging does kind of make up for it.

Omg I did the same thing with this nail polish remover! Left it on my desk...haven't been able to fully get it off for months! That being said, this is such great performing product. I've had the little bottle for well over 6 months now. I can't believe how long it's lasted me!

Well with this it's actually taken the paint off my table! So there's no going back unfortunately :( It's so good though, I can see how it lasts so long. I think because nail polish remover in general does last so long it doesn't hurt spending a bit more than usual on it x
