Thankfully there is no carmine in this lipstick. I know carmine is a more natural alternative to synthetic dyes, but to me that doesn't necessarily mean it's a better alternative. In my opinion, no animal - no matter how small - should be routinely killed en masse just so we can wear a nice lipstick or blush. No products will be featured on my blog that use carmine in their colourings.
The Lipstick
The lipstick delivers an intense colour pay off that is easy to work with and blends beautifully into the lips. Despite being matte, the lipstick is incredibly nourishing and moisturising and I could almost apply this as a balm to keep my lips hydrated. There is absolutely no dryness or flaking, without doubt due to the blend of beautiful oils and cocoa seed butter. The finish is modern and fresh, needing just one coat for a vibrant splash of colour. This is the perfect summer shade, and lasts for a long time. I'm a lip-licker (!), and this still stayed around, although I do reapply my lipstick fairly regularly to keep it from looking tired and faded. I am highly impressed with this colour from Ilia, and think it should be in everyone's make up bag for the summer.
The Price - £22
With Ilia you pay for a quality product with truly beautiful ingredients. In my opinion, it is completely worth paying a little bit extra for.

DeleteThis lipstick looks gorgeous on you. This color was the first ILIA lipstick that I bought and has become a staple in my everyday routine. I totally think that $25 is well worth it for a quality lipstick. Besides, I don't know anybody who goes through a tube of lipstick super fast!
ReplyDeleteThanks Amber :) It's my staple already! Yes it's definitely worth the money, both the quality and the ingredients are amazing x
DeleteGorgeous! xx

DeleteI have a Couleur Caramel one that looks really similar (maybe you've never ever heard of that brand XD) Matte but not drying, that's a must ^^
ReplyDeleteIs it the Limited edition one? I've got the shade in 116 and although it is similar, I think my CL is more vibrant. Also it stays put no matter what. I love it but I'd like to try out Ilia too :)
DeleteVery pretty color! Love it!
