REVIEW | GREEN PEOPLE ORGANIC HOMME

Sunday, November 30

Green People are one of the few organic skincare brands that feature a men's range of products - something you don't often see in the world of natural skincare. In honour of Movember they kindly offered to send the man in my life some organic treats for him to try. Joe has often said he'd like to use more organic products, and this was the perfect opportunity. He chose the Vitamin Boost Shower Wash and the Stay Cool Deodorant, and this is what he thought!

VITAMIN BOOST SHOWER WASH

AQUA (SPRING WATER), SODIUM COCO-SULFATE (FROM COCONUT), COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE (DERIVED FROM COCONUT), DECYL GLUCOSIDE (DERIVED FROM CORN), ALOE BARBADENSIS (ALOE VERA) LEAF JUICE POWDER*, ALTHAEA OFFICINALIS (MARSHMALLOW) ROOT EXTRACT*, CHAMOMILLA RECUTITA (CHAMOMILE) FLOWER EXTRACT*, AROMA [CITRUS LIMON (LEMON) PEEL OIL*, ROSMARINUS OFFICINALIS (ROSEMARY) LEAF OIL*^, LAVANDULA ANGUSTIFOLIA (LAVENDER) HERB OIL*^, EUGENIA CARYOPHYLLUS (CLOVE) BUD OIL*^, CUPRESSUS SEMPERVIRENS (CYPRESS) OIL*, CITRUS AURANTIUM DULCIS (SWEET ORANGE) PEEL OIL*], YUCCA SCHIDIGERA (YUCCA) STEM EXTRACT, ANANAS SATIVUS (PINEAPPLE) FRUIT EXTRACT, TOCOPHEROL (VITAMIN E), ALGAE (SEAWEED) EXTRACT, TRITICUM VULGARE (WHEAT) GLUTEN, BENZYL ALCOHOL, SALICYLIC ACID, SORBIC ACID, GLYCERIN, CITRIC ACID, LIMONENE, LINALOOL, EUGENOL. *INGREDIENTS FROM ORGANIC FARMING. ^FAIRLY TRADED ECOCERT 99.0% NATURAL INGREDIENTS; 76.0% ORGANIC INGREDIENTS.

I've been using this for the past couple of weeks now. It smells different to your usual mainstream shower gels, fresher and less artificial. It lathers up in my hair well, and leaves it feeling clean and healthy, less stripped and dry than with other shower gels I've used. I like the fact it's organic and hasn't got a load of man made chemicals, but I don't know whether I'd spend £10.50 on a bottle of it as it hasn't lasted that long.

STAY COOL DEODORANT

AQUA (SPRING WATER), POTASSIUM ALUM (NATURAL MINERAL), OLEA EUROPAEA (OLIVE) FRUIT OIL*^, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) SEED OIL*, ZINC RICINOLEATE (FROM CASTOR OIL), CETEARYL GLUCOSIDE (PLANT DERIVED EMULSIFIER), CETEARYL ALCOHOL (EMULSIFYING PLANT WAX), BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA) BUTTER*^, GLYCERYL STEARATE (PLANT DERIVED EMULSIFIER), LEVULINIC ACID (PLANT DERIVED), ALPHA-GLUCAN OLIGOSACCHARIDE (PREBIOTIC), ALOE BARBADENSIS (ALOE VERA) LEAF JUICE POWDER*, ROSMARINUS OFFICINALIS (ROSEMARY) LEAF EXTRACT*, AROMA [MENTHA PIPERITA (PEPPERMINT) OIL*^, LAVANDULA ANGUSTIFOLIA (LAVENDER) HERB OIL*^, EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS (EUCALYPTUS) LEAF OIL*^], CETEARYL OLIVATE (FROM OLIVE OIL), SORBITAN OLIVATE (FROM OLIVE OIL), SCLEROTIUM GUM (NATURAL GUM), XANTHAN GUM (CORN STARCH GUM), SODIUM STEAROYL GLUTAMATE (PLANT DERIVED EMULSIFIER), SODIUM LAURYL GLUCOSE CARBOXYLATE (PLANT DERIVED), LAURYL GLUCOSIDE (PLANT DERIVED), POTASSIUM SORBATE, CITRIC ACID, LIMONENE, LINALOOL. *INGREDIENTS FROM ORGANIC FARMING. ^FAIRLY TRADED ECOCERT 99.7% NATURAL INGREDIENTS; 85.7% ORGANIC INGREDIENTS.

I haven't used a roll on deodorant before and I quite liked this one. I thought it would leave my underarms feeling sticky but that didn't happen. The smell is nice and fresh, and isn't overpowering which I really like. I have an active job and it lasted all day which is better than most mainstream deodorants I've used. Because it's not a spray and lasts a long time, I think the price of £8.50 is good value and I'd buy this again.

That's about as much as I could get out of him! I would love to see more organic products marketed towards men. Men's health and fitness is a huge industry and I'm sure more men would be interested in natural bodycare than we realise. The packaging of both the shower gel and the deodorant is sleek and sophisticated, and the scents are invigorating and not at all herbal or off putting. In fact I may have been sneaking some of the shower wash for myself (ssh). As usual with Green People, the ingredients are fantastic and both these products are above 75% organic. I hope in the future we see more organic & natural offerings for men. For now I think this range from Green People provides an amazing alternative to men's bodycare and a few of these will be finding their way into stockings this Christmas.

The Vitamin Boost Shower Gel retails at £10.50
The Stay Cool Deodorant retails at £8.50

  1. You're right, more organic brands need to be aimed at men. Especially now more men are getting into skincare!

  3. Nice to hear what Joe thought! So funny trying to get what they thought out of them! Paul is always put off by the price, I managed to get him to buy Boots Botanics (which I know isn't the best but it was better than Nivea) and even then I only persuaded him because they were on 3 for 2 haha! He also uses my Indie Lee oil but only cause I gave him it for free ha! x

    1. I know! I had to keep asking him things about it to prompt him. Haha yep price is the sticking point with Joe too, he'd happily carry on using mainstream products for the simple reason they are cheap and easy to get hold off !*shakeshead* xx
