Review | Kjaer Weis Mascara

Tuesday, August 5

Trying to find an organic mascara that lengthens, defines and volumises is not an easy task - it's not even an easy task with conventional mascaras! Kjaer Weis are a luxury brand when it comes to organic beauty, and you get what you pay for when it comes to ingredients and performance.

The Mascara

Three Coats

I love this mascara, and am onto my second tube of it. I find the formula just perfect for creating hold and lengthening the lashes, while the plastic wand does an amazing job of curling and defining the lashes. A blend of beautiful ingredients, the mascara contains nourishing jojoba seed oil and castor seed oil, as well as conditioning rosemary extract, lavender flower water and rose water. Unlike so many mascaras, this is full of ingredients that not only enhance your lashes, but are also good for them too. Since using this, I've noticed how much longer and fuller my natural lashes are. I'm sure this is partly down to the castor oil (known to encourage hair growth), as well as how easy the mascara comes off with my cleanser. It doesn't give me panda eyes, and I don't have to repeatedly wipe or scrub at my eyes to get it to come off. Despite this, it lasts incredibly well throughout the day, and doesn't smudge or fall out. My lashes stay curled and defined all day, and they are so soft that if I want to add another coat for the evening, I can do so easily without any clumping. How Kjaer Weis manage this I have no idea!

The only thing I find with this mascara is that the formula is a bit too wet when I first start using it. However this is a problem I've found with all my favourite mascaras. You may have to wait a little longer (maybe 10 seconds) between each coat for the first week or so, but it means that as air gets into the tube the more you use it, it makes the formula just tacky enough to give you that incredible hold, but without drying out too much. You can easily get a natural look with just one coat, or build it up like I did to get a really dramatic look.

The tube is smaller than most mascaras, but this is designed to last you 3 months and prevent bacteria build up - this is an organic product after all! This is by far my favourite organic mascara that I've tried, and reminds me of some beautiful Clinique mascaras that I used to use. If you are happy to spend a little on your mascara and are looking for an organic alternative to conventional ones, then I'd definitely recommend giving this a try :)

Kjaer Weis Mascara retails at £32 with refills for £19.

  6. This looks amazing, both as the product itself and also the packaging. Unfortunately having a family and not being able to work due to ill health I think this is one item that I won't be able to justify purchasing.

    1. It is an expensive product, although the refills are reasonable compared to other organic/natural mascaras. Hopefully one day enough people will demand natural make up and the prices will drop a bit as it isn't always the most affordable :( x
