Natural Nail Polish Remover | Priti NYC vs Fresh Therapies

Friday, August 8

Two of the most talked about natural nail polishes are those by American company Priti NYC and British company Fresh Therapies. Neither of these are cheap options (yet), but they both offer a relief from the noxious fumes of conventional nail polish removers. I have tried both of these, and wanted to share my thoughts on how the two compare...

Ingredients

PRITI NYC - £10
Methyl Soyate, Dimethyl Apidate, Dimethyl Gluturate, Lemongrass Essential Oil

FRESH THERAPIES - £8.99
Dimethyl Glutarate, Dimethyl Apidate, Dimethyl Succinate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate*, Limonene*, Citrus Aurantifolia Oil*, Citral*, Linalool* - *vegetable derived

The Performance

I really like both of these polish removers, but Priti NYC wins it for me. I just find it removes my nail polish quicker and easier than the Fresh Therapies one, and feels similar to more conventional removers in it's effectiveness. The Priti NYC remover contains methyl soyate, a biosolvent which is used industrially as well as in cosmetics. I don't know whether this is what makes it so good, but I always find myself reaching for this over the Fresh Therapies remover. I use both of these by holding a soaked cotton pad over my nail for about 5 seconds before rubbing off the polish, and I find the Priti NYC remover dissolves the nail polish quicker in this time.

I also prefer the smell of the Priti NYC remover. I have the lemongrass scent, although it is available unscented. I find it so therapeutic and uplifting, whereas unfortunately I find that the citrus scent of the Fresh Therapies remover reminds me of toilet cleaner. This is quite a harsh comparison, but in truth both of them smell infinitely sweeter and far better than mainstream nail polish removers.

What I love about both of these removers is that they leave my nails feeling amazing. Rather than feeling stripped and dry, they feel nourished and healthy, as if I've just treated them to a luxury manicure. They both are great in their ingredients, and neither use the unimaginably harsh and toxic chemicals that we are used to.

Both of these are very similar in price, the Priti NYC one will set you back £1.01 more than the Fresh Therapies option, albeit for less product. They both are considerably more than the usual nail polish removers, but until these become more mainstream that's unfortunately going to be the case. Have you tried either of these polish removers? What's your favourite?

  1. Interesting to get your opinions on these. I've been using Fresh Therapies for years and haven't looked to try anything else because I like it so much. I do find some brands of polish will remove quicker than others.

    1. Yeah they do, I've been using these both for about 3 months and I've been taking one hand off with Fresh Therapies and the other with Priti NYC! I still prefer Priti NYC but if I had to use only Fresh Therapies I wouldn't be unhappy, it's a great alternative :)

    1. I know it never seems to go down! I've had mine for about 6 months and have got pretty much two thirds left still - which I'm very happy about as it's not cheap! x

  3. I love Fresh Therapies so haven't felt the need to look for another but it does take a little while longer to remove the nail varnish! The Priti NYC sounds great though x

    1. In all fairness they are both great nail polish removers, and I would be happy using just the Fresh Therapies if I had to :) x

  4. I like both of these, but prefer Fresh Therapies (and prefer the scent!) overall :) I find Priti NYC works amazing with some brands of nail polish, but not so good on others! What brands of nail polish you use? :) x
